Facebook - the social media giant launched a new app for children to chat with parents and friends approved by parents. The app is aimed for the kids under 13, who can't yet have their own accounts under Facebook's rules, though they often do.
Messenger kids is an extended version of a parent's account. It comes with a slew of controls for parents. Children can’t add their own friends or delete messages - only parents can do that. Currently, Messenger Kids available only for Apple devices - the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch in the US. Android and Amazon's tablet versions will come later.
