Meltdown and Spectre: the security bugs of CPU
by Geekboots | Fri, 05 Jan 2018
Meltdown and Spectra are the major security bugs in the basic computing architecture which affect nearly every device made in the last 20 years. Meltdown is specific to Intel devices, and they already started working on patches which will provide protection, but there is a possibility of performance loss due to the patch. Where, Specter is widespread and affecting CPUs from Intel, AMD, and even ARM chips for mobile devices. It’s a far more serious problem than Meltdown which will likely need wholly redesigned processors to fix.
