Now, Nintendo announced that Dr. Mario World will be launching on smartphones early in 2019. The company is set to release its puzzle game Dr. Mario World.
The game will be launching in more than 60 countries, it seems that it will not be launching for any platform other than Android and iOS.
The game will be available for free to download and free to play.
But, the team didn't clearly mention what will be the nature of the gameplay and the pay structure.
Nintendo is collaborating with LINE and NHN Entertainment the two other mobile game developers to develop Dr. Mario World.
Nintendo launched Dr. Luigi on the Wii U. Since then, the franchise has been dormant.
The company tweeted,
For now, they didn't provide any gameplay details or video of Dr. Mario World.
The company said that it pushed back the game's release to "improve quality of the application and expand the content offerings after launch."
In the press release, Nintendo says it intends to utilize "both companies' strengths" with Dr. Mario World. The Line currently serves 165 million monthly active users in key Asian markets.
Dr. Mario World will join other Nintendo smartphone games like Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, Fire Emblem Heroes, and Super Mario Run.
