What is SEO?

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, and it describes the logic behind the ranking of websites when you perform a search on a particular search engine. It's actually a methodology of strategies, techniques and tactics used to increase the number of visitors to a website by obtaining a high-ranking placement in the search results page of a search engine (SERP) - including Google, Bing, Yahoo and other search engines. SEO focuses on rankings in the organic means non-paid search results. In order to make web pages appear in high positions in the search results, SEO tries to shape a website according to the algorithm and helps to ensure that a site is accessible to a search engine and improves the chances that the site will be found by the search engine. Although algorithm remains secret, over a decade of experience in SEO has resulted in a pretty good idea.

Let’s find out how does it work?

  • When a user searches for a term on a search engine like Google, basically Google uses a complex mathematical formula called an algorithm to give a score to every website and every search people to do in Google to figure out which website should rank best for what people are looking for.

  • You can affect your search engine ranking by having the highest score in terms of quality of your site, of having the highest score in terms of the authority of your website, of having the highest score in terms of the most trusted store for that search that people are looking for.

  • So quality what Google is trying to measure when they’re trying to figure out what sites should rank is offering something valuable or unique or interesting to googles searchers.

  • Search engine crawlers may look at a number of different factors when crawling a site. Not every page is indexed by the search engines. The distance of pages from the root directory of a site may also be a factor in whether or not pages get crawled.

  • The search engines use advanced crawlers that gather the information on every website.

  • Gathering every bit of content it can find on the Internet. That creates an index for every website that is compared to the algorithm that Google has built for the best SEO practice.

Why should you do SEO?

  • SEO has the potential to drive tons of quality leads to your website for free. It brings you warm leads that you can later deliver ads to or even sell products to.

  • SEO is way better than PPC (pay per click) because you don’t have to spend money on ads to drive traffic to your site. SEO has a much longer-lasting effect.

  • Backlinks are simply links from an external site to yours. The more high-quality backlinks you get, the higher the authority and rank of your site.
